The year 2018 marks the 80thanniversary of Austria’s Anschluss to Nazi Germany. To emphasize the importance of this historical event the BG/BRG Neunkirchen has organized a number of activities.
Besides the interview with a contemporary witness and an exhibition in our school, the key events will be two lectures about Jewish people in our area before World War II and a ceremony in our school on November 8.
In order to prepare the students of the 6th form for this ceremony in remembrance of the November Pogroms of 1938, their History and English teachers have planned another project.
Our students interviewed a young Jewish man from London via Skype and learned from him about Jewish traditions, his family background etc. The aim of this project is therefore to connect young people with different cultures and to offer them a different perspective on the Holocaust.
